Course Profile

INTRODUCTION

The Course Profile website has been developed to provide consistent course-level information to students.  The objective is to provide individual Course Profiles for all courses (except Honours and VET programs) taught by the University.  This is being achieved progressively as new Course Profiles are being prepared by academic areas in the standard format.

SEARCHING THE COURSE PROFILE WEBSITE

The Course Profiles may be searched in a number of ways as specified below.

1. Using the <search> function on the top left handside of the homepage.  Courses may be searched by:

  • Subject and Catalogue Number
  • Subject area
  • Course title
  • Keywords

Subject and Catalogue Number

The Subject and Catalogue Number are routinely employed as course identifiers and consist of the Subject Area for the course - usually an abbreviation - e.g. CHEM ENG for Chemical Engineering or POLI for Politics - with a four digit number - e.g. POLI 4322. You should ensure that a space is left between the Subject Area and Catalogue Number.

The search is performed by entering the precise Subject and Catalogue Number for the course you wish to select.  The search result should display the course.  For a brief description of the course including the units value click on the course name.  To access the Course Profile click on the "view details" link.

Subject Area

The search is performed by entering the Subject area into the Search field.  The search result should display all of the courses sharing the same Subject area.  Select the course you require. For a brief description of the course including the units value click on the course name.  To access the Course Profile click on the "view details" link.

Course Title

The search is performed by entering the course title into the Search field.  The search result should display the course/s with this title.  Select the course you require. For a brief description of the course including the units value click on the course name.  To access the Course Profile click on the "view details" link.

Keyword

The search is performed by entering the keyword/s into the Search field.  The keyword may consist of the Subject Area or words from the course title or the course owner or words that are part of the more detailed course description. The search result should display the course/s that meet the criteria.  Select the course you require. For a brief description of the course including the units value click on the course name.  To access the Course Profile click on the "view details" link.

2. Selecting the Faculty and School that has oversight of the course

Select the relevant Faculty from the menu on the left handside of the homepage. The select the School.  The Subject Areas allocated to the School will then display.  Choose the Subject Area you require.  All of the courses under that Subect Area will then be displayed.  Select the course you require. For a brief description of the course including the units value click on the course name.  To access the Course Profile click on the "view details" link.
